Detailed
Information
Worldquake is a challenging
game in which a terrible earthquake strikes one of the five continents
that are made up of nations (North America, South America, Europe,
Africa, and Asia) and causes all of the country names to be rearranged
on the wrong countries. The object is to drag and drop as many
country names back to their rightful spots on the map as possible
in two or three minutes. Worldquake is very challenging because
students never know what continent they will have to arrange.
The drag and drop function can be tricky as well. Students should
drop the name labels into the bodies of the nations rather than
on top of the label that has been moved there by the earthquake.
For smaller nations, students should drag the name label to the
arrow that leads to that country. Sometimes, a label will have
to be moved before another label can be put in its place. A student
has dragged and dropped correctly if the target nation turns dark
blue.
Worldquake
is even more challenging than Conquer the Continents because students
don’t have the benefit of choosing the continent –
They have to have a very good knowledge of all the nations in
the world. Furthermore, Worldquake teaches students the important
computer skills of dragging an object and dropping to a target.
Students may find Worldquake hard, and even frustrating, but it
is truly my favorite game on the site because it is so challenging
and because completing a continent (especially Europe, Africa,
or Asia) is a major achievement!
