Poll Pie Chart is one of the most useful applications
on mrnussbaum.com. It enables student to conduct polls
with their classmates, enter data, make a bar graph
or pie chart, and then answer the interactive questions
generated by the smart poll.
Students
must first conduct a poll with classmates. Examples
include "What is your favorite ice cream flavor"?,
or "What is your favorite pet?" With Smart
Poll, students can give students pre-thought of choices,
or, record all answers given. When students access
Smart Poll, they must enter their name and the name
of the poll. Students enter labels (i.e. strawberry)
and corresponding values (i.e. 7) separately in the
boxes provided. The pie chart will generate automatically.
Students should check the box labeled "show labels"
to see the labels on the chart. Students can rotate
the chart by using the arrow keys, and can generate
the bar graph by checking the box labeled "show
bar graph".
Smart
Poll also generates multiple choice questions from
the data provided so that students learn to read and
interpret the graph or chart. Check answers by clicking
on "validate". The graph or chart can be
printed by clicking the right button on the mouse
and selecting "print". |
The
Bar Graph application generates a bar graph from information
submitted by the student.
The
student must first conduct a poll with classmates,
or, have information available to be graphed. When
students access the Bar Graph application, they must
first enter the title of the graph (where it says
"graph title"). Next, the student should
delete the percentage symbol in "suffix",
unless they are graphing percentages, dollars, or
numerical values that require a symbol of some sort.
Students can then enter a description of their graph,
along with labels for the "X" and "Y"
axes. Students can choose the color of the font and
the grid. They can also choose the type of font to
be displayed. To generate the bars in the grid, students
must click on "add item". This should be
repeated as many times as necessary. When students
are finished entering the information, he or she should
click on "generate graph". The program will
generate a usable bar graph for the student to print
out. |
