Bull Run I

Brief Description: The first battle of Bull Run, in Manassas, Virginia, was the first major battle of the Civil War. Union forces were routed by the Confederates under Generals Jackson, Beauregard, and Johnston. The Union defeat was a demoralizing blow to northerners who wanted a quick end to the war.

Battle Dates: August 30, 1862 (Battle two)
Who won: Confederate Army
Casualties: Union: 13,830; Confederacy: 8,350
Brief Description: In the second battle of Bull Run, Union forces were once again routed by Confederate forces under Generals Lee, Jackson, Stuart, Hood
and Longstreet and they tried to capture Gainesville and Manassas Junction.
